In 1988, the British Army ordered 17 Challenger Training Tanks (CTT) – based on Challenger 1 – from Vickers Defence Systems. These were the first ever purpose-built training tanks for the British Army.

With the success of the CTT, the concept was carried over to the Challenger 2, now called Challenger Driver Training Tank (DTT).

This kit is designed for use with either Tamiya Challenger 1 or Challenger 2 kit, or any Trumpeter/Airfix Challenger 2 kit. It is NOT suitable for the RFM kit which has a different turret ring.
